Hey everyone! I posted a photo of our pizza up on my Instagram stories this arvo and I decided that I'd pop the story/background behind the healthy pizza up here on my blog. I'll also add it to the 'recipe' section of my website in a more straight-forward way, too, so if you'd like to just go straight there and get the recipe straight away, it'll be over there by tomorrow.
So, as ya'll know, I absolutely love nutrition and eating healthy. It's something I'm really passionate about you know!? Well, last week my mom and I actually decided to go on a week detox (I'll do a blog post specifically discussing that detox with you guys soon; we kind of just designed our own detox with our own sort of "rules" or "guidelines". Funny enough we both feel more toned afterwards which is cool, too). The detox was so fun and we really enjoyed it! Anyway, part of that week detox was to eat minimal carbs. It's not good to completely cut something out of your diet, in our opinion, anyway, and so we still had one slice of toast with a poached egg for breakky (YUM!) every morning.
My dad is so sweet and so during this detox he decided to buy us healthy pizza bases... and so this is literally the trick to eating healthier pizza: healthier bases - more specifically cauliflower bases! This can be done with a lot of foods; you can just buy the healthier version. The cauliflower bases are thinner and less dense and thereby healthier :) We put all the usual pizza toppings on the cauliflower bases; some cheese, onion and bacon, and then when they came out of the oven some baby spinach and avocado, yet they were healthier because the actual base wasn't as thick or as dense as a normal pizza base. It's just small little tricks or hacks like this one which can make a really unhealthy food more healthy. It's still pizza and so isn't completely healthy of course, but it is just a more nutritious version...
These pizzas were SO delicious. Where usually I try to only eat four slices, I honestly could enjoy more because the base was the perfect density, and so I highly recommend these!
I'm not sure about you guys, but I love finding healthier versions of food so I'll definitely keep going with this. Let me know if there are any sweet treats or unhealthy foods that you'd love to know the healthier versions of and I'll start researching some more of these recipes for you guys (and myself hehe)!
Happy Wednesday, have a beautiful week further, and remember to taste and see that God is gooood!
